Laura Benedict, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist
who has been in private practice since 1992. Her areas of specialization
include the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder of Infancy
and Childhood, Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Major
Depression. Her practice consists of sexually and/or physically
abused children and adolescents, as well as women who were abused
as children. Additionally, she works with divorced, adoptive and
blended families, as well as conducting a general child and women's
practice. In addition to private practice, she provides consultation/supervision
services for Conners Children's Center. She is a Clinical Assistant
Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at the
State University of New York at Buffalo.
Dr. Benedict received a B.A. in Psychology from the
Colorado College in 1983, a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Arizona
State University in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from
Arizona State University in 1990. Upon receiving her Ph.D., she
worked for two years as a Staff Psychologist at the Kennedy Krieger
Institute Family Center, In Baltimore Maryland. This grant-supported
out-patient center is part of the Johns Hopkins Health Care System
and provides treatment for Foster Care children and their families.
Since moving to Buffalo in July, 1992, Dr. Benedict has been in
private practice.
