WA lawmakers end legislative session with $78B budget | The Newsfeed
The Washington state legislative session is now in the rearview mirror.
Lawmakers approved a nearly $78 billion two-year budget to fund schools, state prisons, mental health services, homeless services and more. One of the biggest priorities this session was closing the state’s anticipated $15 billion budget shortfall over the next four years. The final budget package includes $4.3 billion in new taxes over two years, spending cuts and funding for new programs.
