DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) | Wise Mind
Wise mind, reasonable mind, and emotional mind are concepts often used in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Marsha M. Linehan. Wise mind represents a state of balanced thinking, combining both rational and emotional aspects. It is the place where logical reasoning and heartfelt intuition converge to guide decisions and actions. Reasonable mind, on the other hand, is associated with purely logical and analytical thinking, devoid of emotional influence. Emotion mind, conversely, is dominated by feelings and impulses without much consideration for logical reasoning. The goal in DBT is to find a synthesis of these states, utilizing the strengths of both reason and emotion to make informed and balanced choices. Striking a harmonious balance between these three states is crucial for effective decision-making and emotional well-being.
