California bill would let doctors get mental health help confidentially
Assembly Bill 408 would allow California doctors to confidentially seek mental health or substance use treatment without facing public discipline—unless a patient is harmed. The bill, backed by the California Medical Association and authored by Assemblymember Marc Berman, aims to expand a past support program for physicians and medical residents. Supporters say it provides early intervention and safeguards. Critics argue it lacks transparency and could risk patient safety, pointing to past program failures.

A really Bad idea. Are commercial truck drivers allowed owed to drive when they’re in substance abuse treatment❓Are law enforcement officers allowed to be on duty in public when they’re in substance abuse treatment ❓Why should a doctor be treated any different❓if this passes they’ll be a lot of malpractice lawsuits against the doctors and they’re employers, eventually driving up healthcare costs❗️Who’s lobbying for this❓The malpractice insurance companies so they can raise rates⁉️
