What’s the REAL Difference Between STRENGTH and Aggression?
Do you think being “hard” or acting like an aggressor makes you tough, or keeps people from challenging you? I’ve seen that approach, and what I’ve really learned is that type of behavior tends to push people away. It makes you look like exactly what you’re trying to project, and frankly, nothing genuinely positive comes from it.
It’s a strange trap some men fall into. There’s this fleeting sense of power they get from being rough on others, or just plain rude. But the truth is, treating people poorly doesn’t get you anywhere meaningful in life. It really just makes you look like a jerk. You might even think it’s funny, or that it solidifies your position of authority, and maybe it feels good in the moment.
But I’d encourage you to really consider the ripple effect of that kind of attitude. Think about the impact it has on those around you, on your relationships, and ultimately, on your own well-being. Is that perceived “hardness” truly worth the isolation it creates? Especially for those of us with a military background, where toughness is ingrained, it’s important to differentiate between genuine strength and a facade that alienates.
