NPD is a mental health condition under Cluster B Personality Disorders characterized by:
• Grandiosity (in thoughts or behavior)
• Constant need for admiration
• Lack of empathy
• Difficulty handling criticism
People with NPD often appear arrogant, entitled, and emotionally manipulative.
📋 Symptoms of NPD
• Inflated self-importance (“I’m special and unique”)
• Fantasies of unlimited success, power, beauty
• Exploits others to achieve goals
• Envious of others or believes others are envious
• Takes advantage of others emotionally or financially
• Lacks empathy or guilt
• Expects special treatmen

1. What is Narcissistic Abuse?
Narcissistic individuals often manipulate, gaslight, and emotionally abuse those around them, especially close partners and family members.
Signs include:
• Constant self-doubt and confusion
• Walking on eggshells around them
• Frequent guilt-tripping
• Isolation from family/friends
• Emotional dependency
This abuse can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and complex PTSD in victims.

NPD develops due to a mix of:
• Childhood emotional neglect or overvaluation
• Excessive praise without real achievement
• Unstable or controlling parenting
• Trauma or abuse in early life
• Genetic or neurobiological factors
6. Effects of NPD (on person and others)
On the person:
• Difficulty in relationships
• Loneliness, depression, mood swings
• Dependency on admiration for self-worth
• Anger issues or rage when criticized
On others (victims):
• Emotional trauma, anxiety
• Isolation, self-esteem damage
• Feelings of guilt, helplessness
• Repeated toxic relationship cycles

While narcissism is difficult to treat due to low self-awareness, it’s not untreatable.
✅ Psychotherapy:
• CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) – helps modify thinking patterns
• DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) – useful for emotional regulation
• Schema Therapy – targets deep-rooted beliefs formed in childhood
• Group Therapy – helps in empathy development and insight

• SSRIs (e.g., Escitalopram, Sertraline)
