the approach that I think we have had in the US is if I want to push a thumbtack into my bulletin board here the easiest way to do that is with my thumb but what we do instead if the the anxiety issue is the Thumbtack I’m going to take a sledgehammer and just pound that thing into the wall if someone presents with mild or moderate symptoms maybe the first course of action should be something like some kind of a lifestyle intervention physical activity and if that doesn’t manage the symptoms enough then maybe we introduce cognitive behavioral therapy some psychological treatment or we go to the medications that have been used often as the first line yeah I love what you’re advocating for the kind of Ste care approach right where you’ve got different treatments to meet people at different intensities of need and one of the beauties of exercise is generally speaking it’s a lot more benign the side effects are positive okay you’re doing it for your mental health but you’re going to get the physical health benefits whereas pharmacology quite the opposite
