Scranton event promotes mental health awareness with fun activities

Good morning John and Mindy. That’s right, we’re raising health, raising money for mental health services in the Scranton area right now we’re in the art room at the counseling center, so tell me what goes on in here. Uh, consumers from our, uh, some of our programs creates, uh, different, uh, art projects, uh, mosaics, they do plantings, they do, uh, pictures, they paint, they draw, uh, and they do it for as, as part of their therapy programs, but they also do it. Um, twice a year we have, uh, they have a sale in our lobby, craft sales, uh, so they can raise funds just to replenish, uh, the supplies that they’ve used throughout the year, uh, creating these wonderful, uh, uh, crafts that they do. That’s great. So you have your fundraiser in 10 days. Yes, Summer splash for mental health will be in our parking lots here on Cherry Street, uh, ticketed events for, uh, catered, uh, event with by Caravia. Uh, we’ll have a parking lot games, a DJ, um, building tours, uh, so we can see, uh, you come up and see this room, uh, just to see where, uh, your funds and your donations are going to to support all the wonderful programs we have. So Nick, I want to touch on you, you also do services outside the building. Yeah, I think one thing that people don’t realize is how much more we are as opposed to just tra traditional counseling services. So we’re out in the community seeing folks where they’re at trying to reduce the barriers that some folks might experience accessing services so we get out, see folks in their homes we work with folks in the school system, forensic folks within the court system as well. So again we’re trying to meet folks where they’re at as opposed to having them come to us. Absolutely. So the summer splash for mental health takes place on August 14th. That’s a Thursday night. 6 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of this facility on Cherry Street in Scranton. There’s gonna be food, drinks, music, uh, facility tours. So again, on August 14th from 6 to 9 p.m. here on Cherry Street, John and Mindy.
