is bringing a major step forward in mental health care throughout the PD. ABC 15 Alexis Cooper was at today’s grand opening and shows us what’s in store for the community. >> Tonight, several leaders came together for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Jean and Hugh Leatherman facility. This facility is named after former South Carolina State Senator Hugh Leatherman and his wife, Jean. >> To have our names on this building is an honor beyond words. But the true honor lies in what will happen within these walls. >> This new $100 million behavioral health facility will offer a wide range of mental health services, from crisis stabilization and triage to telehealth, outpatient and inpatient care. >> It stands as a beacon of hope for individuals and families who may be facing some of the most difficult moments in their lives. It says to them, you’re not alone. You matter. And help is here. >> Leaders from all over the state attended tonight’s ceremony offering their support, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. >> This today and this collaboration. Among all these different talents, these different assets, these different parts that address the situation, the problems, the deficiencies in one way or another. This is the answer. You can’t do it with a single talent or a single discipline. You have to have them all working together because particularly in mental health, there’s so much to it. So you have to take a comprehensive approach. This place does something. >> The facility will feature a 63 bed inpatient psychiatric unit for patients in need of acute care. It’s a collaborative effort between McLeod health, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Francis Marion University, and Hope health. The pavilion is located at 121 East Cedar Street. They’re expected to begin serving their first patients by the end of this month. In
