l’m anti- antidepressant. #antidepressants #depression #therapy #mentalhealth #standup #comedy
Anti-depressants are fickle because everybody says you’re supposed to give them about 4 weeks before you feel anything, which is strange. Feels like if you’re depressed, the last thing you have is time. That’s why it’s a hotline, not a PO box. I got hooked up with this drug dealer over at the pharmacy and she was the one who told me, she was like, “Just so you know, when you’re on anti-depressants, uh, uh, it takes about 4 weeks for you to feel anything.” I was like, “Um, well, do you have a same day option?” Because I am depressed right now. Actually, I I’m more depressed since you told me this. we are we are headed in the wrong direction right now. She was like unfortunately that’s not how it works. Your brain needs time to become desensitized to the drug about 4 weeks. That way it won’t notice the change. And I was like, “So to be clear, I am to wait a month before I feel anything, at which point I will be so used to the drug that I will not feel anything.” She’s like, “I think so.” Yeah. I was like, “All right. Well, I’ll put in these four weeks, but you should put in your two

My ex when we were in the process of breaking up and me getting tf away from her physco ass she ended up with withdrawals because of her antidepressants and the amount of pills they had her taking. She asked me (recovering addict) if she was going through withdrawals and I said yep and I’ll be here for you till I can’t. Help up my end of the bargain being there till I couldn’t and for all I know she’s living life fucked up on the pills they make her take. Fun shit, not really. I feel terrible for her
Drew, I am so sorry you're suffering from depression. ❤
This is the kid that used to stutter really bad. His stuttering jokes were so funny. 😂 Lol Ive watched them 1000 times
Right lmao hilarious I'm here for it 😂
"when you're depressed, the last thing you have is time" which is why I refuse to play the pill tester game of try this for 4-6 weeks and then we can adjust it or change it and then do that over and over again, fuck that.
So true 😂😂😂
Wait 4 weeks then still dont work or have horrible side effects and they tell you to take a higher and higher dose until you're maxed out waiting a month each time. Wasted like 6 months ruining your life then you have to taper off for 6 weeks then try again with another one. Sometimes they start layering drugs to help the side effects of the first one and then the side effects of the second one and at some point you realize you've just been high and completely out of control for 2 years and ruined all your relationships and lost your job and realize you would rather just feel how you felt without them but now you have to rebuild your entire life while feeling that way. Try to apply for temporary disability income but they won't let you because they're still more drugs to try first so you ruin your credit
Didn't he used to stutter ? Whats up with that ? I mean by all means if it's something he had and then was ailed of then by all means good for him but if he was using that as part of his act and he didn't have a speech impediment now, this is just my personal opinion that's a bit distasteful.
When I was younger, I was prescribed antidepressants. I only tried them once as my mother didn't agree with me taking them. I took them that one day and i was on top of the world. Has antidepressants changed over the years?
Ts gay
In real world terms, this is very strange. The action the anti-depressant directly affects happens within the first dose. This feels a lot like you are just waiting for it to get better on it's own, with extra steps. I once told people I have knee pain, and some people tell me take Glucosamine, Turmeric, etc. But then they say you might need to be taking that for 6 weeks before it starts to help because it takes time to "build up" in your body… what's building up exactly? No one know!So I just assume that it's getting better on it's own in that time.
This is why SSRIs are utter garbage. 99% of the time why people stay on them is because it makes you more numb
Florida? ☹️
I can't believe the shit they put us through 😂😢
Some medicines have significant side effects, one possible side effect is being aware you are reacting to a crazy world.
He's so cute 😊 I've been on medication for like 20 years and I miss my old body 🐷 I used to be so thin a gust of wind might have blown me away.
Omg I agree with this mann
This feels like a cry for help you good man?
Me: wow, i feel so much better on these and its only been a couple of days! – ends up having a manic episode on them –
Dont forget that getting off damn near impossible.
Y'all learned nothing from the opiates crisis smdh
Big Pharma are worse drug dealers, with worse products than the street dealers. As long as they bite, uh, I mean LOBBY Congress, they can even sell vaccines that don't even prevent you from getting infected with the virus AND get the government to pay for it all
for the today option you need to go to the liquor store or the dispensary.
are you depressed ? go and do 200 squats you will feel better !
anti depressants should be outlawed
So true lmfao😂😂😂
Looks like the stutter is getting better
There is a same-day option, its called psychedelics and it was outlawed in the 60s by stupid Regan and his war on drugs because they didn't want people to rise up and complain about their non-sense war. But no worries, you can always just move to Oregon if you are depressed, its one of two places in the US where its legal. Yay! I love the government controlling my happiness and health!
I don't know how it's in the USA, but here in Europe it's not 4 weeks but 2
Its crazy how on point this is
What they mean is a month to accept the change😂😂😂. The med itself works right away, but a month to accept you're a zombie emotionally.
The “right now” option is Methedrine IV.
It does have some side effects though. 😢
the same day option is exercise and good food.
REALLY hoping I get to see you for my birthday in October you will be in CT YAY asked my husband for tickets as my gift
Love ur honesty and good laughs
People think it's crazy but when you turn towards Jesus and pray and open your heart in a very literal sense not figurativly try to feel his presence tangibly in your heart like you'd feel love in the real world. You get so much peace. And calm. You feel happier. I also want to say that changing your diet can help incredibly as well. You body is I'm alences in the brain and if you decide you don't want to pray them you need to also give your body the ability to heal from toxins. We have switched to a diet of mainly fruit, veggies and meat. We have cheat days we are not perfect. We still eat muffins and donut and eat out but it's occasional and it only takes a few days of making home cooked meals to start noticing a difference I have noticed a different with my ADHD when we started this and we stopped dyes for a few months now so I know it's from the whole foods approach. It sounds like a lot but remember you don't have to be perfect. You can have days you cheat.
What they don't tell you is the SIDE EFFECTS start almost immediately after taking anti-depressants. But the main effect takes weeks 😒
"Do you have a same day option?" It's called micro-dosing with Psilocibin mushrooms.
Yeah that pharmacist is not really a pharmacist. That is not how anti-depressants work. They were close though with the whole timeline thing. But you don’t get desensitized. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in our brain that helps regulate mood. Most times you have a lack of a chemical like serotonin. So when you are depressed you brain is running on low levels of a chemical and so when you first start taking antidepressants you brain is not use to have normal levels of that chemical so it feels like it is oversaturated. So that four weeks is your body getting use to those levels and then it levels out and you feel “normal” you don’t go back to the way you felt before. If you do then it’s the wrong medication and you talk with a psychiatrist and try another. So that pharmacist was close but still very wrong.
To those who are in a dark place and feel like they are alone. You are not alone and you can find peace. There a plenty of people who have shared or are going through a similar trials as you. I have gone through it if I can make it I know you can too. Seek help, don’t lose hope. Your life matters. If you have a loved one who is struggling reach out to them just voicing that you care about them makes a world of difference. Love to all of you.
Pharmacist here. To clarify, the pharmacist in the story wasn't wrong per se. SSRIs are often first line antidepressants and they work by blocking serotonin uptake back into cells so that the serotonin is actively working in the nerve space longer. In response, your cells can change how they respond to certain chemicals like serotonin to make themselves less responsive to that chemical. So what the pharmacist was referring to is that the 4-6 weeks is the time it takes for the body to get used to the higher levels of serotonin and become responsive to it.
4 weeks, that is depressing to hear man.
It takes your brain 4 weeks to become desensitized to the DRUG. THIS WAY, IT WON'T notice THE CHANGE. That sounds like something out of a creepy foreign invasion scenario.
Saffron, research it
😂
Remember when you used to torture your dog by incessantly stuttering? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
My doc warned me I was going to feel worse before they started to work! I said to him, well that's dangerous.
