Mental Health Awareness Month Event | County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services Department

[Music] [Music] events like this really help advertise and also provide resources to the community uh mental health affects every five people in our County and so we need to be able to continue to um offer resources and offer support and treatment in order to help folks you know manage their mental health or substance use issues in the County Behavioral Health we have a raise of outpatient services that serves every population and so you could access this through Callin uh Behavioral Health call center as well as walking in into any of the clinics or programs that you’re familiar with you can access this on our website as well as there’s several providers out here there’s several vendors out here who are promoting uh Behavioral Health Services and ways and other ways that we can continue to assist everyone to reduce the stigma as well as uh provide additional support and resources we live in a world that where everybody always feels constantly judged and when you look at polls to ask people what would make them feel happiest in the place they live or happiest with their family there’s always one answer and that is for people to feel like they belong and so one of the reasons events like this are so critical is because it says out loud look there are a lot of people who need help all of us do at one point or another and here’s an open safe space to not just get help but to make sure that um we’re telling the world that there’s a place for them to get help back in my day when I was younger I don’t think that I could access services or programs um through a fair like this and I know when my mom was having difficulty with depression um when she was battling cancer it would have been really helpful for me to be able to recognize some services and programs on her behalf so that I could share it with her and so this is huge leap forward in terms of access creating access is just absolutely um key ever since my brother’s first episode uh he’s had he’s had up to three now uh but since the first one they’ve been there for us they’ve supported us they’ve been someone that we can talk to U someone that we can just rely on and and just lean on at any moment we know that we can text somebody and that would be someone for us to to talk to um you know there’s there’s those rough moments where you don’t even want to talk to your own family members so it’s it’s always good to know that you can go and talk to somebody else about the situation and they’ll understand you and know how to help you with it
