Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A Beginner’s Guide | Ashley Mason, Ph.D.

  1. I've never had CBT work like this, and talk therapy mostly left me in a multi-year loop. What helped was becoming a Strategic Intervention Coach. Currently, as a Health Coach, I simply mention this type of pattern of behavior as why my approach is by using the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine. When I describe something similar to what she does, about half the patients will shake their heads knowingly. I further explain we'll be using SMART goals. No judgements. Yet with curiosity, and flexibility.

  2. Tips for myself: change your behavior in a positive way and be consistent to prove to your brain that there is no evidence to support the negative thoughts 🎉
