I suffered from treatment resistant depression (I call it cancer of the soul) since puberty till I was 53. There's very few antidepressants I didn't try during that period but at best they either helped a bit or not at all. When I was 53 I told the doctor that I wanted to try elavil. On the 5th day someone turned on the lights and I knew we had found the right medication for me. I phoned my doctor in tears saying we finally got it. I'm 62 now and all is well. Cancer of the soul can kiss my a%%. I won.
Genesight DNA testing can narrow down which antidepressant would be most effective too… i havent done it it. Last dr never heard of it. Depends how advanved your town area demographics. So far ove accepted sleeping all day with one good productive day per week.

Does it cause sedation though or drowsiness? Bc theyāre not a CNS depressants which CNS depressants cause sedation

Tricyclic. Antidepressants: amitriptyline, imipramine for depression, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, anxiety, insomnia… mode of action increase norepinephrine and serotonin in CNS SE= sedation orthostatic hypotension, anticholinergic effects urinary retention, constipation, photophobia, dry mouth, tachycardia. Sweating seizures arrthymias. Can't see, pee, spit poop. Amitriptyline dries amy tripping over a tricycle in the dry desert. Teach to change position slowly due to ortho hypotension chew gum for dry mouth increase flyid and fiber to prevent constipation.

I designed drugs for two decades. Honestly if your going to use the tricyclics..why not just go for the MAOis. They are the most effective for treatment resistance and not anywhere near as dangerous as made out to be. The tricyclics come with a lot of baggage and are not as effective. Good old Nardil !!! So many people suffering out of fear of this drug
