Did You Know: Behavioral Health Services

A majority of visits to primary care are due to stress related factors.

Not only does stress directly affect your mental health, it also affects your physical health.

Thatís why here at Family Health, we treat the entire person – mind and body!

The Behavioral Health Department at Family Health offers individual and group appointments to patients experiencing high levels of stress that negatively affect their overall health. We also work with patients who have chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension or chronic pain. The services we offer are brief, lasting 30 minutes or less and may consist of only one same day visit. Patients can even see a Behavioral Health Provider while waiting for their Primary Care appointment. Most mental and behavioral health issues can be managed in the primary care setting, but we can also connect patients with community resources for more long-term mental and behavioral health concerns.

Behavioral health providers work with patients to teach them skills for coping with and reducing stress. The ultimate goal is to increase healthy behaviors such as healthy eating, sleeping, and exercise and decrease unhealthy behaviors such as smoking and problematic drinking. Behavioral health providers also help motivate patients to make the life style changes that they want but can’t seem to get to on their own.

Behavioral health providers are currently in 4 Family Health locations: Bayou Street, Semmes, Southwest Mobile, and Dauphin Island Parkway.
