The fight for better mental health care | Dr. Pamela Buchanan | TEDxMyrtle Beach

Dr Buchanan addresses the topic of mental health as she chronicles her time working in the ER during the pandemic leading to her own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. Neurodivergence , ADHD, and the difficulties navigating the mental healthcare are also addressed. Dr. Pamela Buchanan has been a board certified physician for 19 years in private practice and emergency medicine. She currently owns and is medical director of Ellie Mental health of Town and Country. She is a fierce mental health advocate. This talk invites all people to decrease stigma and shame in mental illness as she shares her own mental health struggles culminating with thoughts of suicidality during the pandemic. Difficulties in obtaining care personally encouraged her to become more engaged in raising awareness and finding real world solutions to our mental health crisis.
