Sheriff McFadden discusses mental health resources following light rail homicide

Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden addressed several issues when it comes to individuals like Decarlos Brown, charged with the murder of Iryna Zarutska. One of his main points being the need for a designated facility for forensic evaluations.

“We are a detention center, we’re not a hospital,” McFadden said. “We are the detention center, but we are acting as though that we are a mental health facility. We’re glad that this incident brought mental health to the forefront, and everybody is concerned about, but we want everybody to concerned about it even more — and place the funding where it needs to be.”

McFadden also says out of the approximately 1,500 people in custody at the Mecklenburg County detention center, at least 100 need behavioral and mental assistance.

  1. The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world.
This is still a good time to invest in Gold, Silver and digital currencies (BTC, ETH…)

  2. Do anything except putting them back on the public. The law-abiding citizens shouldn't have to wait around for someone to kill them before something gets done. Coddling the insane doesn't seem to be working.
