Schizophrenia is a serious mental health condition that affects how people think, feel and behave, causing a wide range of psychological symptoms. People with schizophrenia are often unable to distinguish their thoughts from reality.

People with schizophrenia often struggle to function normally, withdrawing from everyday activities and social situations.

Schizophrenia requires lifelong treatment. Medication, therapy and a strong support system are crucial in helping people with schizophrenia learn to manage daily life.

People with schizophrenia often don’t know that they have a mental health condition.

If a loved one is showing symptoms of schizophrenia, talk to them and offer to help them find a doctor or mental health professional.

  1. Interesting. I've been in hospital four times on suspicion of having schizophrenia. I was treated for it for a couple of years but have never had any of the symptoms and have never been diagnosed with it. It's fascinating that in medicine it's usually assesment, diagnosis then treatment but in mental health it's treatment, assessment and then diagnosis or in my case just treatment without diagnosis.
