Addressing the Mental Healthcare Needs of People with HIV in RWHAP funded Clinics (25174)
Description: Mental health disorder is common among people with HIV and leads to poor clinical outcomes. This panel will provide insights into building an integrated mental health treatment program as well as provide strategies to address the maladaptive thoughts of patients struggling with stigma associated with HIV and comorbid mental health disorder.
Learning Objectives:
• Illustrate the barriers and lessons learned integrating mental health RWHAP clinic.
• Propose strategies for the primary HIV care provider and the mental health provider to
challenge maladaptive thoughts and behaviors of people with HIV and mental health disorder.
• Describe mental health program innovations to address unique patient needs.
