I was put on antidepressants in 2016 (zoloft). I was on it for about 2 weeks. During that time I went full blown psychotic. I would call my doctor and tell them what's going on. They would say I my body just needs to adjust. I got worse. I did call several more times before everything boiled over. I reached my breaking point. The doctors wanted to schedule me a month out for the next available appointment. But once I told exactly how bad I gotten. Didn't sleep for days, uncontrollable movement, self h*** (don't know if I can say ot on YouTube), paranoia from not sleeping, my speech was extremely fast and disjointed screaming crying full on meltdowns. I was ready to end things. I got an emergency appointment over an hour away for same day. Got diagnosed bipolar and taken off antidepressants and put on antipsychotics. I almost got admitted. Luckily I had friends who could watch me and make sure I took my meds that they controlled until I was in the right state of mind again. I never acted like that before. Never had those issues before. I still have extreme insomnia to this day.
Taking an antidepressant is how I got diagnosed with bipolar I 😑 I was given Setrona for clinical depression. It completley rid me off ocd as well. Nine months later I spent $3k on clothes, diy and art supplies and cut half of my hair off. Once I came to I was shocked at the state of my hair and gathered all of the stuff I bought over a period of august to early November 2021. I felt terrible and knew i needed to see doctor. After I told him what I’d done I Diagnosed Bp I rapid cycling. Tapered off setrona. Tried valproate too much side effects. Put back on Quetiapine. 1.5 years on lamictal i miss antidepressant. I haven’t had any major episodes or long lasting manic episodes without setrona but ocd came back. I hate that. I miss antidepressant but guess I am better without it 😔
What meds can someone with BP-I take for anxiety other than benzos since they shouldn't take antidepressants?
“Here, try this. And if that doesn’t work, try this. Oh, this is producing more harm than good, let’s add this on top of it..”. Do doctors listen to themselves? Do they really teach the “throw shit at the wall and see what sticks” scientific method in medical school? Sometimes, there really isn’t just a pill to take to solve your problems in life. We pollute our bodies with poor nutrition, never exercise, isolate ourselves behind computer screens and cell phones, family structure has been ripped apart for decades.. no wonder there are so many unhappy people in this world. But, alas, there’s a pill for that! Wake the fuck up. This country is being taken for a ride by a pharmaceutical industrial complex that despite its massive profits we remain one of the least healthy countries in the developed world and we are still on our way down. I say again, wake the fuck up. Go run a mile and do some push-ups and get out of your own head.
And your requirements may vary throughout your life. Especially so for women as they go through their menses, peri-menopause, menopause and post menopause.
Something to discuss in a future video.
I don't like prescribing Depakote or lithium for Bipolar I but they work very well. Success depends on compliance and regular lab draws. Some patients are not compliant–they actually enjoy their mania. Those with horrible mania benefit from Seroquel; those with depressive Bipolar do well with Latuda or Lamictal.
I DO NOT use ssri's they caused me to go into mania i also bf medicated stayed in mania for 2 yrs straight and i never slept
You be going a lot of taking and not saying anything
Lexapro 5mg and wellbutrin 150mg both trigger really bad manic episodes thats how i found out i have bipolar 1. Lomatrigine just felt like it was causing me to have early onset dementia so i scatch that too. Now im on square one and severely depressed
My mums been on an injection once a month since 2008
How is it called that kind of blood test that shows Wich medication will be more effective and has less side effects in comparison with the others.
Anti-depressants, specifically SSRIs, mess me up as someone with BP2. I'm lucky enough to only need a mood stabilizer.
Does topiramate work for bipolar ?
Dr tracey currently am going through mixed mania please help in the past used to take divalproex sodium lamotrigine and fluoxetine for mania bt have changed dr and he said fluoxetine will trigger mania so vey confused please help in the past divalproex sodium lamotrigine and fluoxetine worked bt not so much since didn't feel normal now wt to do dont know feel suicidal please help if you can
This is what happened to me.
Anticonvulsants changed my life.
For me, DPP BD II initially misdiagnosed as major depression. I got lucky and the Rx'd antidepressant worked well, with few side effects. Over time, however, it became increasingly easy to slip into mania. That was a lovely change but it definitely wasn't stable. Eventually, and with medical supervision I weened off the meds, over a long duration. Now, I use various 'lifestyle' interventions to manage what presents as cyclothymia with ultra rapid cycling. I'd be very hesitant to go back on the same SSRI again if ever it got that low again.
Quacks making experiments on humans.

Why i'm saying this i took Paroxotene and Amisulpiride for 6 years. Now i'm a dead man my brain is damaged i can't get my life back, FDA knows about it but the it's a profitable business. Look online you will find the truth
I was carefully prescribed an antidepressant (Wellbutrin) to see if I could tolerate it. 2 weeks in, I was sent into a terrible mixed episode. We switched to Zoloft and I'm able to tolerate it. I'm also on a mood stabilizer, an antipsychotic, and a stimulant.
I have diagnosed bipolar 2 and i take an antidepressant and an antipsychotic together, it helps me a lot
“We don’t have a clear picture, so we just gamble with people’s lives and health!”
Bipolar 1 here! Maybe I’m an outlier but while on antipsychotics and lithium I’m just fine with the antidepressant
Makes sense I tried every Ssri there is and always felt worse… I got diagnosed last year with bi polar and put on quetiapine it helped my Insomnia at first.. now it’s not working, time to speak to my doctor again wish me luck
