Closing the Gap: Could this be the future of global mental healthcare?
85% of people with depression in India never receive treatment. This film follows an innovative new approach in Goa that hopes to dramatically reduce that treatment gap.
‘Closing the Gap’ explores the IMPRESS study, a research trial testing innovative ways to make mental health care accessible to all by training primary health care workers to identify and treat depression and empowering community volunteers to raise awareness, reduce stigma and support access to treatment. By bridging the gap between communities and clinics, this project aims to close one of the biggest treatment gaps in global health, both in India and around the world.
Partners: Led by Sangath in partnership with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Harvard Medical School, the Directorate of Health Services in Goa, Mount Sinai Hospital, and the University of Toronto.
