Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions). These symptoms cause significant distress and interfere with daily life.

Symptom

Obsessions:
Intrusive thoughts, urges, or images that cause intense anxiety. Common themes include contamination, harm, symmetry, forbidden thoughts, and doubt.

Compulsions:
Repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed to relieve anxiety caused by obsessions. These provide only temporary relief and can be disruptive. Examples include excessive cleaning or washing, checking, ordering, mental rituals, and seeking reassurance.
