How Do You Get Schizophrenia?
People always ask, “So… how do you even get schizophrenia?” Well, it’s not like you wake up one day and just decide to hallucinate. Schizophrenia is usually a mix of things you can’t see—like genetics, brain chemistry—and things you live through, like stress, trauma, or intense life experiences when your brain is still developing. You don’t catch it, it’s not contagious, and you definitely don’t get it from being “weak.” Some of us are born with a vulnerability, and then life hits hard enough to flip that switch. For me, it started young—hallucinations, paranoia—and nobody knew what was going on. Everyone’s story is different, but the silence and stigma are always the same. In this video, I’m breaking it down—what we know, what we don’t, and why talking about it can literally save lives.

I think you are born with it. It's not caused by trauma
Often life challenges are not chosen, but rather imposed upon us. What is chosen is how one reacts. Your contributions in this serious subject prove that!
Accurate dad has it I’ve had symptoms since as early as a baby like severe delusional thinking and Very real feeling hallucinations based off those delusions
I believe I caused my son's Schizoaffective. My ex was a mean alcoholic. I had anxiety and couldn't leave until I got diagnosed with PTSD and got on the right meds. I will never forgive myself. Thank you for sharing
