I was told I was a violent Schizophrenic
The idea of “violent schizophrenia episodes” is mostly a myth. What people often see as violence is usually someone overwhelmed, scared, or misunderstood—not dangerous. During a crisis, a person might be talking to voices, pacing, crying, or shutting down, but they’re much more likely to hurt themselves than anyone else. These moments aren’t about aggression—they’re about confusion, fear, and a desperate need for compassion, not judgment.
Hi, I’m Michelle and I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. To show that my episodes of psychosis are non-violent, I use a security camera in my apartment to document them. The recordings show me sitting on my couch, talking to myself, and making strange facial expressions, but I do not pose any harm or threat to others.

Keep fighting for yourself! Sending u a virtual hug. Hang tight you got this girl!
I'm sick of comments like that. I am non- violent and extremely gentle yet I have schizophrenia. And when the word "violent" comes up in the press , linking it to schizophrenia as a whole, as a general assumption with the illness, it is not right. That is a stigma causing general (uneducated) assumption, that I am tired of. I know other schizophrenic people who are harmless everyday good people too. I love you girl. And your sense of humor is awesome.
You are a hero to many! Keep fighting the stigma and thank you for all you do to help educate us on what it's like to live well with a mental health
diagnosis ❤
Gotta love the perpetuation of psychosis stigma 😁 it’s easier to leave a dumb comment than it is to learn ig
The fact you smelled it answered questions for me. My husband does indeed have olfactory hallucinations. Rotten things. Soured milk. Burnt sugar. Wonder where in his memories they come from.
This i a result of medication
Its a side effect from the medication, its not the desease o and bye the way they must named the desease something else somting like a broken brain channel
What did the couch do to you?
Girl, I stubbed my toe last week, no one was concerned that I hurt the wall.
