For parents and guardians, each year of a child’s life brings new hurdles and challenges. Mental health among children is a growing concern. Knowing how to support a child’s mental health is just as important as knowing how to support their physical health.
While there are different levels of interventions to take if a child is struggling, knowing options and having a plan can help parents and guardians stay calm if an emergency should arise. In an emergency where the child is in danger of harming themselves or others, call 911.
Not every situation is an emergency, however. Some mental health concerns may show up gradually; it could be easy to write them off as having a bad day or changing their personality as they mature. Changes that last several weeks, or that interfere with their ability to do routine tasks, are notable and could be signs of a mental health issue.

  1. It's quite telling from the graphics that conflict is two ways. Anger, irritabilty, defiance, upsetting others and vindictiveness may stem from (unintentional) intergenerational behavioural symptoms.

  2. This is caused by parents who suck at parenting, they let them do whatever they want so they turn into spoiled brats. ODD is the medical term for brat.

  3. I was diagnosed with this as a child. It was my environment, not a trait inherent to me. I went into the Marine Corps, a highly authoritarian environment, and did very well.

If I'd have had a father in the home, I doubt I would have had this "disorder"

  4. I’ve never been officially diagnosed with this, but I have all the symptoms and my parents already knew I had it, I was “ diagnosed “ ( not officially) at like 4 yrs old. I had it so bad that I got expelled for it, and had to go to therapy! As a 4 yr old! I’m better now and I’m still good 10 yrs later! Still have it but learning to control it!

  5. Yelling never helped spanking and thats been lroben for years so yeah informing your self giving love is the best medicine givin them games novelties to stay in their room is the best

  6. It sounds like I have it, though I'm only defiant towards corrupt people, which is normal human behavior. Also, I don't do out of my way to hurt people.

  7. Not vindictive but suffer from the rest of symptoms… cant be around anyone who trys to parent me as a adult authoritative in mannerism or voice tone etc and incessant demands of me ,being bossed around, too much instruction and overly eager with giving me directions telling me what im not or i cant do constantly reminding me of what im failing at in life the constant comparisions and shit its my everyday lifeim in a place i cant find the way out of this place i dont know directions or where to go to try to get away from these abusive ppl someone help me please? constantly controlling me to kick my odd on to get me in trouble 😮
