So informative!!
no one ever wants to talk about the methylation cycle and how our diets are directly driving mental illness by offering high calories with no vitamins, minerals or amino acids to perform its basic functions. These medications further strip the body of these vitamins, minerals and amino acids— putting you at risk for other illnesses and unlocking new symptoms
Mental illness Is heart disease for the brain 🧠 ❤❤Overcomer of two heart operations and minor stroke currently no medications Just maybe it is The food Dr Baxter Montgomery YouTube Sunshine, Water, Plant based nutrition Houston, Texas
These medicines are all a hoax. If there is no test for low levels of neurotransmitters AND most people dont have an imbalance than WHY keep prescribing SSRI's? Because of $$$$!
Can a god complex be apart of a bipolar mania episode ?
On my experience as medical student and nephew of a bipolar disorder patient I think that these drugs are too general, not specific and a lot of studies are needed. If I compared mental disease pathogenesis with hematologic ones or oncology ones I see a very big gap of knowledge. I hope for new findings 😓
I have episodes because the medication only helps 1/2 to 2/3rds of my illness.
It's a difficult condition to treat because phases can change or episodes can increase or decrease so even the doctor may not be certain how to treat your condition
I love everything you post, Dr. Marks, but when I hear this through the ears of my bipolar child, I worry that he might take what you are saying as advice to stop his antipsychotic meds just because mania is not acute. When he is in maintenence phase, he is convinced that he doesn't need meds, esp antipsychotics, but we have been told he should stay on them (perhaps at a lower dose) even when they have slightly undesirable side effects. He went off both his meds about 2 months ago and so far so good, but he points to his recent lack of symptoms as evidence he doesn't need any meds. Like maybe there will never be another episode. I worry that he's unrealistic, skeptical of the diagnosis and unwilling to even write down triggers or signs that he may need to restart meds. And once symptoms DO show up (esp mania) , he is least likely to accept that ANY change is needed. Then we end up going to extremes (hospitalization) that he swore he wanted to avoid. So while this short is meant to explain why a doctor might change your recommended meds, it could be mistaken for advice on when a diagnosed person might want to adjust (stop) meds based on how they feel, without input from the prescribing Dr.
Dr Marks I have a question regarding this subject but idk how to send it to you like email or messenger. Please let me know where to send my question. Thank you.
IDK… I just ate 5G of Golden Teachers, and I love YOU!!
The thing i have learned is Psychiatrist have a list of things they determined as side effects or possibilities and i have learned dealing with disruptive bipolar schizoaffective disorder since 1990, my doctor is amazed at the stuff that happens to me with any slight change in medications, even non mental health medications screwing with my moods. Not so much anymore but i have had mania, severe depression and an anxiety attack in the same day, witnessed by my support system and nearly wiped me out, no matter what's happening all you need is tools, and if your psychiatrist isn't giving you the tools you need a good therapist who will. I have seen it all, i have felt it all, i started out dinking it away, beating people up, loosing every person that i knew, now i have just what i need, and life is much better, more stable and less stress, well until NAMI puts out a study saying people with this mental illness life expectancy is 68, that sucks, uses fingers and a couple toes, 14 years away. The rugs cannot do it alone, Alpha Stim (is great, killed my anxiety and depression), meditation, yoga, tai chi and simple military breathing and absolute positive thinking..
Is it safe to drink alcohol while on anti depressant?
I take antidepressants daily but recently started medication for an unrelated seizure disorder. When I started taking the combo of the two it was as if the "background noise" in my head was suddenly quiet. My intrusive thoughts are much less frequent and my mood feels much more stable. I miss the "ups" where I could get a huge amount of work done but I also enjoy not having destructive thoughts pop into my head.
I'd tried all the CBT, DBT, EMDR, brainspotting and while it helped, it was still hard to battle my thoughts. With this new medication combo I feel like a functioning member of society
I think I may have discovered some mental disorder that I didn't know I had…
I take 4 different meds , every time I’m depressed they put me on a new one but they don’t take anything away . I getting tire of taking all those pills . But the one really hate is the a antidepressant. Mood stabilizer and anxiety are ok . I wonder if I can stop taking the antidepressant medication.
