WORCESTER, Mass. – Jake Miskin who wrote and produced the movie Shattered Ice drew on his own personal experience from Needham High School losing several classmates to suicide, Miskin uses hockey as a vehhicle in his movie to explore the way a town and high school kids deal with grief, loss and mental health. Shattered Ice is showing this Wednesday, November 12th at the Palladium in Worcester, and after the movie there will be a panel discussion with Pro athletes, and mental health professionals, Miskin is hoping his movie can further discussions on mental health. “Shattered Ice Is a fictional sports drama that deals with the impact of losing someone to suicide at such a young age,” said, Miskin, “it was inspired by my own high school experience losing multiple classmates to suicide . I wanted to tell a story about the conversations that my friends, classmates, community members were trying to have and tell it in an authentic and raw way and using the sport of hockey as such a New England rich history that was the perfect vehicle to tell a powerful message.”
Shattered Ice airs at 7pm on Wedesday at the Palladium with a panel discussion to follow, tickets are $20, $10 for students
