The Blue Mountain Health Cooperative for the past five years has provided community services through its behavioral health clinic at no cost.

Some of the free services available at Blue Mountain Health Cooperative’s clinic, 222 W. Birch St., include same-day mental health counseling, behavioral health navigation services, psychoeducation, professional continuing education and free support groups.

To bridge gaps in its funding, the Walla Walla-based nonprofit is hosting a walk-in benefit gala from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Cordiner Hall Foyer, 46 S. Park St.

The fundraiser comes at a time when many behavioral health facilities are facing uncertainty about federal funding.

In September, Trilogy Recovery Community closed its doors in Walla Walla after facing funding challenges. The nonprofit behavioral health organization had operated locally since 2008. Trilogy and Blue Mountain are not affiliated with each other.

Ryan McKown, Blue Mountain Health Cooperative’s executive director, said the organization was awarded a federal grant of $90,000, but that funding is stuck in an indefinite delay by the new federal administration.

He said the Benefit Gala, as of Monday, Nov. 14, had 114 confirmed guests. Tickets are still available and will be available at the door on Friday. The organization’s fundraising goal is to replace the $90,000 grant, but McKown said the organization is aiming to raise at least $45,000.

During the event live music, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be available. Cocktail attire is encouraged but not required.

Blue Mountain Health Cooperative also accepts donations through its website and during the Valley Giving Guide. For more information about the health cooperative’s services and clinic, visit bluemountainhealthcooperative.org.
