ORLAND PARK, IL — A mental health center in Orland Park is seeking donations to support community members in need this holiday season.

The Living Room in Orland Park, a 24/7 mental health crisis center that provides free, walk-in support to individuals in need, is hosting an essentials drive to collect hygiene and comfort items for local people who are struggling to meet basic needs.

A branch of Trinity Services, The Living Room, located at 16514 South 106th Ct. in Orland Park, serves as a free alternative to the emergency room for people in mental health crisis. It gives those individuals a safe, calm environment to de-escalate from their mental health stressors. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Center staff will connect people in crisis with the support and resources they need, free of charge, and is open to anyone 18 years of age and older. Read more about their services on their website.

The essentials drive is ongoing now, with donations accepted any time. Item pickup will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, with three time slots available: 9 to 11 a.m., 12 to 2 p.m., and 4 to 6 p.m. Registration is required for pickup.

Items accepted include baby products, clothing, hygiene products, and accessories. Specifically, they’re looking for hats, gloves, scarves, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, clothing for men, women, and children, and diapers, wipes, baby clothes, etc.

Hygiene and baby products must be new and unopened. Clothing can be new or gently used.
