SHREVEPORT, La. — Caddo Parish Schools is teaming up with Brentwood Hospital to provide expanded mental health services for students, teachers, and faculty.

The school board approved the expansion, which will offer outpatient mental health services to students, focusing on serious issues such as depression and suicide prevention. Currently, the district partners with 26 different mental health agencies.

“I hate that mental health is a big problem. If Brentwood can bring in something different to help these parents, then go with it,” said school board member Dottie Bell.

Services will remain confidential and comply with HIPAA laws protecting student privacy. Schools will recommend that parents contact Brentwood Hospital if they believe their child may need mental health support.
