Understanding the Role of a Texas-Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (T-CCBHC)
Hi, my name is Cara Yanichek, director of behavioral healthc care services at Texana Center. Texan Center has been a Texas certified community behavioral health clinic or TCCBHC since 2022. And last month, we successfully completed reertification, which further exemplifies that we’re committed to operating as a CCBHC. I want to share what that means for us and the communities we serve. This model is part of a state initiative to ensure people across Texas have access to integrated behavioral health care services that are close to home and when they need them. It’s designed to make whole person care more accessible, coordinated, and person- centered, no matter someone’s ability to pay. At Texana, we serve individuals and families across Fort Bing County, Austin, Waller, Colorado, Madagorta, and Wharton counties. We provide care for children, adolesccents, and adults. Meeting people where they are with compassion, respect, and cultural understanding. Our CCBHC services include outpatient mental health and substance use services, psychiatric care, medication management, along with 24-hour crisis intervention services. We also offer care offer care coordination, peer and family support, and specialized programs for veterans, youth, and individuals and families with complex needs. Being a Texas CCBHC is important because it holds us to the highest standards for access, quality, and accountability. It allows us to strengthen partnerships, expand services, and ensure that when someone reaches out for help, they receive timely, coordinated care. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier community, one person at a time.
The model is designed to make sure individuals can access high-quality, comprehensive care.
