Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation LLC, a local mental health agency providing individual, family and couples counseling and group therapy, earned the Behavioral Health Care and Human Services Accreditation from Joint Commission, an independent, evidence-based standards-setting organization for patient care through health care.

This accomplishment recognizes Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation’s commitment to meeting performance standards and delivering quality care to its clients.

Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation underwent an on-site survey Sept. 8-9. During the visit the Joint Commission surveyor assessed compliance across areas such as applications of mental health counseling, safety of environment, agency policies and documentation.

“We are honored to be accredited by Joint Commission and look forward to our collaboration with them. We feel this alliance will assist OFCC in better serving our clients and our community,” said Leslie Fehrman, owner and CEO.

The Joint Commission surveyor conducted on-site observations and interviews to identify performance strengths and opportunities for continued improvement. With decades of expertise and a data-driven accreditation process, Joint Commission helps ensure health care organizations adhere to leading safety practices.

“Joint Commission congratulates Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value,” said Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of accreditation and certification operations and chief nursing officer at Joint Commission. “Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation to enable and affirm the highest standards of health care quality and patient safety. Together, we are elevating care for all patients, and we appreciate Ohio Family Counseling and Consultation’s collaboration throughout this process.”

Accreditation has been a longtime goal for owner Leslie Fehrman. She, in collaboration with OFCC’s billing specialist Mindy Fehrman, researched different accreditation agencies, determining Joint Commission to be the best option in the field of accreditation to realize her dream. With Mindy Fehrman’s expertise and Leslie’s experience, they reviewed policies, implemented improvements to documentation and strategized new office procedures.
