Singer Ozzy Lino will be undertaking a 48-hour ‘singathon’ in February in aid of mental health awareness.
In a statement, event organisers said Lino would take on “one of the most mentally demanding performances ever staged locally”, singing continuosly from February 6 to 8 at the Esplora Planetarium Hall in Kalkara.
The event is dedicated to raising visibility and support for mental health awareness across Malta and Gozo.
Likening the singing endurance challenge to the struggles faced by those battling mental health struggles, organisers said the event would test “focus, emotional balance, resilience and the ability to keep going through the quiet hours, the fatigue and the inevitable psychological dips”.
“Every hour becomes a symbol of what so many people battling mental health struggles endure, the unseen effort, the ongoing fight, the quiet resilience.”
Throughout the two-day event, Lino will be joined by a rotating selection of guest singers, musicians and hosts. The singathon will be broadcast live, with discussions underway for extended coverage.
Those interested in donating can do so by SMS or telephone, in person at the Esplora Planetarium Hall or through a direct link that will be provided closer to the event.
The staging area for the event will feature a children’s play area, food, refreshments and guest appearances.
“This Singathon is not about breaking records; it is about breaking silence. It is a shared commitment to compassion, resilience and community,” organisers said.
“Through music, endurance and unity, the event aims to spark deeper awareness and inspire more open conversations about emotional wellbeing across Malta and Gozo.”
