we went thru 3 evacuations and now have trucks and trailers ready to roll on a moments notice. You learn how few friends you have when no help comes. We got lucky and set up a water sprinkler perimeter just in time, but 28 unfortunate homes below us had nothing left. Hotshot crews literally have to pick which homes to help save. neighbors who did no defensive space fire fuel clean up/removal before hand were left with no fire fighter help unless the overhead flights that drop fire retardant were close enough. The intensity of these new huge fires is awesome and totally no mercy. The strain on family in immense; Life or death situation. No surprise if doctors describe a new type of PTSD after experiencing such a very real threat. I learned that the cause of the fire usually has to be kept non-specific because when the individual that started the fire gets identified to the public then that person receives death threats or will be murdered. So Yes, these wildfire situations are no joke.
