(WIFR) – The Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board (WCCMHB) asks the community to share their thoughts on mental health and substance use service gaps and needs in Winnebago County.

“The Mental Health Board is really looking to understand the experiences of mental health services in Winnebago County from the perspective of people who are using the services, providers who are providing the services and general community residents,” said Jason Holcomb, with Region 1 Planning Council.

The input from community members will guide WCCMHB’s three-year strategic plan and highlight areas the Board should allocate the most funds to.

“The common knowledge gaps that we’ve kind of all known about for years are the lack of sufficient crisis response services and shortages of psychiatry, particularly with children’s mental health,” Holcomb said. “The things that we’ve learned because of public participation has been challenges with transportation, getting to and from services and workforce issues for those agencies that are trying to expand services and need people to fill positions.”

The survey will remain open until midnight on January 6, 2026. You can access it here.
