KILLEEN, Texas (FOX 44) – Central Texas College is addressing the rising need for mental health support, especially during the holiday season.

The college says its Mental Health and Human Services program prepares students to support their communities through both academic learning and practical, hands-on training. Coursework emphasizes real-world skills, including interviewing techniques and role-playing activities that simulate working with clients.

CTC says students also learn about health psychology and how emotional and physical well-being work together to influence overall mental health. The program focuses on building strong communication, boundary-setting, and problem-solving abilities.

Many students find that the skills they gain help them grow personally as well as professionally. The curriculum is designed to prepare future counselors, social workers, and human service providers for a variety of career paths.

CTC says it places a strong emphasis on practical readiness so graduates can confidently step into the workforce. With Spring enrollment now open, the college encourages those interested in helping others to explore its mental health training opportunities.
