Canadian pop artist Jade LeMac chatted about her new music, Jingle Ball 2025 in New York, and being a recording artist in the digital age.
Margaret Mead once said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” This quote applies to Jade LeMac.
Newest EP ‘It’s Always at Night’
On the release of her latest EP, she said, “It was great! I’m so happy that it’s out and I’m even more excited to be able to perform the whole EP on these on these next tours.”
Music and songwriting inspirations
On her music and songwriting inspirations, she shared, “I feel like I’m inspired by so many things.
“There are artists that I listened to growing up, family, things that I experienced, and things that other people experience. So many things inspire each song. Writing has been something that I’ve loved ever since I was 11 years old,” she elaborated.
“So, I try and find inspiration in everything and anything I can,” she added.
Favorite song from the new EP
Jade listed “Sweet Dreams” as her personal favorite song from the new EP. “I love ‘Sweet Dreams.’ I think it’s one of the most underrated songs,” she said.
“I just love the melody and the lyrics. I feel like I had a vision for the song. My producer was able to bring it to life, and it’s just one of my favorites. I love that one,” she exclaimed.
Favorite song from her musical catalog
When asked about her all-time favorite song of hers in her catalog, she responded, “That’s a hard one. It’s really hard to pick because there are so many different types of songs that have made different vibes.”
“I love ‘Sweet Dreams,’ I’ll always love ‘Sleeping with the Lights On,’ and of course, ‘Constellations’ is still my baby,” she added.
Jingle Ball 2025 show in New York City
She revealed that she is looking forward to performing at Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York City this Friday, December 12th.
“I am performing a 20-minute set, so the fans can expect to hear a couple of songs,” she said. “I’m really excited! It’s going to be super fun. I have never been to New York during the Christmas season.”
“I am just excited to be a part of this year’s Jingle Ball. It’s going to be really fun,” she foreshadowed.
The Paramount
Earlier this season, Jade played The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island, where she opened for Maren Morris.
“The Paramount was so cool,” she exclaimed. “Opening for Maren Morris, in general, was so amazing!”
“It was a lot of fun being able to go to a bunch of different cities and places that I’ve never been to before in these awesome venues,” she added.
Warner Music Canada
On being signed to Warner Music Canada, she said, “It’s awesome! The whole team is great! Everyone has been so amazing and so kind. They all believe in me. We all work really well together.”
Dream duet choices in music
Jade listed Adele, Labrinth and FINNEAS as her dream collaboration choices in music. “I feel like they are all super cool,” she admitted.
The digital age
On being an artist in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, she said, “It’s pretty crazy! It’s such a big part of the industry these days.”
“Personally, I’m very, very grateful. I started on TikTok, so it has been a big part of my career,” she noted.
“Social media in general is crazy,” she admitted. “I feel like I have a difficult relationship with it, but it’s definitely very relevant. It’s a big part of everything but I have a love and hate relationship with it.”
Importance of mental health in the digital age
Jade discussed the importance of mental health in the digital age. “I think that’s why there’s a part of me that doesn’t love social media so much… for mental health reasons,” she said.
“I think it is affecting the mental health of a lot of young kids. I have a younger brother, so I’m trying to make sure that he’s not too involved in it because I just I want him to be a kid,” she said.
“Not everything online is child friendly,” she said. “I feel like it’s something that I just wish everyone could take a step back and really be cautious of what they’re putting out there and everything like that.”
Future plans
On her future plans, she shared, “We are doing the Canadian tour and the Australia Tour in the New Year. That will be in January and February, which I am very excited about.”
“I am already starting to work on some new music, and hopefully a new EP. I have lots of plans for the New Year,” she said.
Career-defining moments
On her career-defining moments, she revealed, “I think every moment has really helped! I’m 21 years old, so I’m still young. I’m still growing and I’m still learning. I try to learn from everything I do.”
“All the shows I’ve done, the festivals, the Maren Morris tour… I feel like I’ve learned a lot from those, and from writing. Everything is a learning experience,” she added.
Biggest Musical Influences
Her biggest musical influences growing up were Shawn Mendes, Adele, The Weeknd, and Sleeping at Last.
Advice for young and emerging artists
For young and aspiring artists, Jade suggested, “I would say to just your yourselves out here! Don’t be scared. Believe in yourselves and write from the heart.”
Stage of her life
On the title of the current chapter of her life, she disclosed, “Change.” “I feel like there has been a lot of change,” she said.
“I’m in my personal part of my life right now. I just moved out of my family’s place. So, I’m not living with my family anymore. I’m living on my own with my girlfriend at the moment. There is a lot of change, and I’m learning a lot,” she elaborated.
“I’m learning how to be an adult and things of that nature. So, I would say that I am in my ‘Change’ phase right now,” she added.
Superpower of choice
If Jade were to have any superpower, it would be “to fly” or “to be invincible.”
Best thing about being her age
On the best thing about being her age, she stated, “The best thing about being this age is knowing that I’m still so young, and knowing there is so much to learn. Also, being able to look back on all the things I’ve learned and to just soak them all in.”
“I also enjoy having fun and being in the moment,” she added.
Best advice she has ever been given
On the best advice she has ever been given, she revealed, “Probably to just be myself.”
Favorite mottos to live by
Her favorite motto to live by is “YOLO,” which stands for “You Only Live Once.” “Also, everything happens for a reason,” she said.
Success
On her definition of the word success, Jade said, “I think success is being happy. I think a lot of people can think of success as making the most money, but if you are not happy, are you really successful?”
“So, I think, success is being in a place where you are content with where you are at in your career and in your personal life,” she said.
Message for her fans
For her fans and supporters, she expressed, “I love them, and I hope to see them on the upcoming tours.”
Closing thoughts on her new music
Jade remarked, “I want people to get whatever they want and need out of my music. I want them to be able to listen to my music and relate to it however they want to, and to interpret it however they want.”
