Mental health is hard to talk about, but it doesn’t have to be, according to a news release.

Join Keystone Empowers You Collaborative for a free QPR training from 7-8 p.m. Jan. 27 at LaGrange Global Methodist Church, 105 W. Main St. in LaGrange.

Residents can learn how to support a friend, child, or loved one in crisis through this QPR training, according to the release.

No registration required.

The letters QPR stand for Question, Persuade, Refer.

This training teaches you how to recognize the warning signs of someone in a mental health crisis, how to ask the right questions and how to help them get the support they need, the release said.

This event is hosted by a trained, local QPR professional and the Keystone Empowers You health collaborative.

If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 to get connected to a counselor who can help.

KEY is a community-based group powered by the United Way of Greater Lorain County, and facilitated by Lorain County Public Health.
