LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (WILX) – B4 Foundation founder and former Ithaca High School football coach Terry Hessbrook will speak to students at Lakewood High School on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of mental health and thinking before acting.

After the tragic loss of his son to suicide in 2023, Hessbrook has dedicated his efforts to promoting mental health awareness, self-reflection, and the importance of seeking help.

Two years ago, Hessbrook helped Lakewood High School launch its Mental Health Ambassadors program. The program is made up of student leaders who support their peers during difficult situations and work to foster a positive school environment.

Hessbrook’s message has helped students understand that it is okay not to be okay, and that asking for help is a sign of strength.

Over the past two years, Mental Health Ambassadors have worked to reduce stress, promote well-being, and provide positive activities for the school community.

Hessbrook’s presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be livestreamed in the player above.
