On a different but related note. I had an illness go undiagnosed for years, the mental side effects were awful! When I was put on a heart med, the issues were about half gone in two days and completely gone in a year. Health matters for mental state!

Vitamin C fights depression. Oranges in particular have been found to have antidepressant effects far exceeding the effect of antidepressant medications.

After years of depression and medication, I discovered by chance that I had a severe vitamin D3 deficiency. After taking high doses of vitamin D3, I improved without medication, just vitamin D3. What are the doctors thinking?

I do think a lot of depression is situational – something happened, grief, financial situation, work situation, etc…so not sure diet (and anti depressants!) can make a massive difference without the situation changing? But I definitely think the diet can help! But is there any kind of diet, supplements, etc that can help with SNRI withdrawal symptoms?? I would love to try it if so!
Be careful which olive oil you choose since some have less favorable oils added

For me fruits and lightly prepared without vegetable oil meats makes me feel the best. Minimal fiber and NO salad NO grains!
The Mediterranean‘s eat mostly meat all kinds of meat they eat horse eat, frogs stuff like that all of it

This irritates me, so if you're depressed, eat an apple! Or anything healthy for that matter. If you're depressed, you're sick and need medication, but be sure to check everything you're taking.
I'm glad it helps it is a healthier way of eating but the Mediterranean diet and everything else that Mr Ansel keys did is a lie he Cherry picked his data and it's about time physicians started calling him out!

My son has depression and bipolar. He's 46. Nothing has helped him with his mental health related symptoms. I have worked with mental health for almost 30 years. I have tried everything to contribute to his well being. The medication only suppresses for awhile. I believe in CBT, but that doesn't make the symptoms disappear. I have so much experience with mental health and in my opinion, there is no cure for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Can you recommend cdr in phx. I lost teeth from allergic reaction and nerve damage. I've been put on constant meds and bp now 59 over 40 I'm scared I'm dying literslly.

I had clinical depression and tried diet fixing and vitamins and minerals – changed nothing. My depression continued to worsen until I was hospitalized. Perhaps it works for mild or moderate depression but definitely not clinical depression
Keto changed my life, obliterated my anxiety, reversed PCOS and horrible acne, helped me lose weight, helped me gain energy so I had the motivation to strength train… I try to convince others but no one wants to give up their carbs and alcohol, even though they can see what it's done for me. Can lead a horse to water and all that….
Hello again if you have seen my comments in the past. I shall paste the same comments I left in your community posts because I haven't still seen your stance on drugs. It's important for your viewers to know your stance because someone that could benefit from antidepressants for example could see your video and reject them without trying, leading to..possibly 'check-outs'.

Increase fruits and vegetables 8-10 times per day being vegetables more than fruits.
Replace pasta and bread with whole grains.
Dr. Josef. I discovered you yesterday 1/15/26 and I have been binge watching you ever since. The same thing happened to me when I discovered Dr. Boz (Bosworth) about a year ago. Because of my Parkinson’s Disease; a disease I acquired because of my exposure to the Camp LeJeune Toxic Water (the worst case of contaminated water in American history-my best friend joined the Marine Corps with me and we spent 1977-1979 at Camp LeJeune. This was proven to be peak time of the contamination. He died of Parkinson’s Disease in 2014). I digress. Dr. Boz introduced me to the Keto diet. I’ll spare you the details except to say; it has changed my life dramatically and many of my symptoms have disappeared. With your help and the help of my Neurologist I hope to slowly titrate myself off Cymbalta. I know this will be very difficult from everything I have read but it will be worth it if I’m successful. You are a real blessing for me. Thank you for your honesty and courage.
Sunshine or D3 supplements help a lot.
I have found much improvement in mood and energy with a ketogenic diet. Ketones are so powerful in the brain. 10 servings of fruits and vegetables likely won’t allow ketones – at least not for me. . Metabolic Mind also had powerful information.
Question: why are traditional East Asian (especially Japanese) people so healthy if their diet looks almost nothing like the Mediterranean diet?
Greeks used to not eat meat on weds and fridays, they eat what is in season, they didn't drink fresh milk, they ate yogurt and cheeses. They ate fishes, all the oil they would use would be olive oil. Fish now is so over fished and full of microplastics and other pollutants. I know the history of food and meds in America. My mother is from Crete. but also, my grandparents didn't know their actual birthdates so ages were estimated, also ages were fudged to get earlier retirement in many of those "blue zones". Greeks started smoking like crazy in the early 1900's. Also health problems cause depression, I think you neglected that point.
