#1 → Lithium carbonate is a long-term therapy for bipolar disorder
💡Lithium think LifeLong therapy

#2 → Patients on MAOIs should AVOID foods with tyramine!
Tyramine-rich foods:
🧀Aged cheeses
🥩Cured meats
🥄Sour cream
🍌 Overripe fruits or vegetables

#3 → Patients in manic bipolar episodes should be offered foods that are:
🍔Protein-dense
🍎Calorie-dense
🏃On-the-go & quick to grab

#4 → Tricyclic antidepressants and MAOIs should NEVER be taken together
-IF a patient is switching from one to the other, there should be a 14-day period between
-This is called a “washout” period

#5 → ALWAYS prioritize SAFETY
✅If the exam gives you an option to remain with the patient, CHOOSE IT! (especially if anything indicates risk, opportunity for harm, or unsafe environment)
