GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A new behavioral health facility is set to open in Mesa County next month, aiming to address long-standing gaps in mental health and substance use care on the Western Slope.

Ava Health is preparing to open its new headquarters in Grand Junction. The center will offer multiple levels of care in one location, designed to serve Mesa County and surrounding rural communities.

Leaders said the model was developed after months of collaboration with local, regional and state stakeholders.

“The fundamental and foundation of Ava Health is really that this community came together in this really beautiful way and came together and said, this is what we need. And if you can build this, you will serve a significant gap that exists. Everything’s just in one place with a team that’s working together, communicating together,” said Christopher Bennett, CEO and Co-Founder for Ava Health.

The facility is scheduled to open on February 9. Leaders said even before opening, they are already hearing from people seeking care, showing a sign of the local demand for behavioral health services.
