A 66-year-old Ashland man faces drug charges after authorities uncovered a drug operation at his home in October 2022.

The Schuylkill County District Attorney’s office recently charged William C. Bracey, of 1212 Middle St., who was reportedly involved in the sale of large amounts of methamphetamine and possessed various other illicit substances at his home.

According to paperwork filed by the DA’s office, police executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home on Oct. 18, 2022.

After being admitted inside, Schuylkill County Detective Troy S. Greenawald and state Trooper Scott M. Grochowski met with the defendant and told him why they were there. Bracey told them he was a narcotics user and that all of his narcotics were located in one part of the home.

After searching the home, the pair found 12 bags containing suspected methamphetamine (which later were weighed cumulatively at 98 grams), a bag of suspected fentanyl, two bags of suspected cocaine and a bag of suspected marijuana, along with numerous other unused plastic bags and a digital scale.

The defendant admitted to being involved in the sale of methamphetamine and said that he owned all the items of contraband found in his residence.

Bracey faces a felony charge of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, along with misdemeanors of intentional possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

He was arraigned Jan. 30 by Magisterial District Judge Edward J. Tarantelli, Frackville, who set bail at $75,000 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing for the defendant is scheduled for 10 a.m. March 11, before Tarantelli.
