MALDEN, MA — The city is preparing for the official arrival of a new healthcare facility later this week.
Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital, located at 100 Hospital Road, is slated to open on Friday, Feb. 6 with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony. Built through a partnership between Tufts Medicine and Acadia Healthcare, the facility will offer a diverse spectrum of behavioral healthcare programs including inpatient psychiatric treatment, specialized support for conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder, and dementia, outpatient services, and care for people with both mental health and substance use challenges.
The Behavioral Health Hospital will also serve as a primary teaching center for Tufts University’s School of Medicine students.
“There is a significant need for accessible, high-quality behavioral health services in the Greater Boston area, which currently has a substantial deficit of behavioral health beds,” Tufts Medicine said in a statement.
The opening event will take place at 10 a.m., with speaking programs scheduled to follow soon after by the hospital’s CEO, Jameson Pinette; Acadia CEO, Debbie Oseteen; Tufts Lead Psychiatrist, Director of Behavioral Health, and Psychiatry Professor, Dr. Brent Forester; and Malden leaders.
Tufts Medical Center Community Care is also in Malden located at 178 Savin St.
