(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – In Cambridge, the city’s Police Department is addressing the mental health of officers.
The department announced they’ve hired a Mental Health Clinician as part of their officer wellness program.
They’re working with the Dorchester county health department to make it all possible.
And Police Chief Justin Todd says this will be a big help for officers who may be struggling.
“Being able to have a critical incident that you’ve just been involved in, and then to go on to another call of service right afterwards and trying to be able to deal with that and having an outlet to have that embedded clinician a part of your agency to get to know and trust. I think it’s huge,” says Chief Todd.
Chief Todd says the Police Department is looking into additional partnerships to provide mental health resources.
