Certified Wellness Coach: A New Behavioral Health Profession – 2024 Site Coordinator Symposium
Facilitated by Anne Powell, California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI)
The Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) is a groundbreaking $4.7 billion effort to transform how California supports the well-being of children and youth. A promising aspect of CYBHI is the introduction of a new behavioral health professional, the Certified Wellness Coach. Learn about the new Wellness Coach profession and explore its potential to advance the work of schools and school-linked organizations, build diversity within the behavioral health workforce, and expand student access to essential support services.
Participants will be able to learn about the profession and current grant opportunities to support employers expanding their workforce. There will be an extensive Q&A period for participants to engage with the material.

This position is my calling. I have updated my learning path to obtain the proper degree. Not long ago, mental health issues were brushed under the rug like a common cold. And most assume it just gets better. But unaddressed problems are just that, unresolved. Same as trauma, many times unaddressed, long lasting, repressed, and triggered by things we'd never imagine. Problem is, most of us were never given the coping tools necessary to self sooth or get help. The sooner we can educate our youth and families, provide accessible resources, and create safe spaces where mental health is a more transparent conversation, we will begin to see improvements. I am so inspired. This opportunity is amazing! #PassionForPurpose
