Inpatient care for mental health in Willow Grove Adolescent Unit
Willow Grove Adolescent Unit is the dedicated adolescent service from St Patrick’s Mental Health Services. Willow Grove provides high quality mental healthcare in a nurturing environment to young people aged 12 to 17.
This video aims to give you an overview of the referrals and admissions process and to let you know what to expect from inpatient care in Willow Grove.
If you are referred to Willow Grove, an assessment may be booked for you, along with your parents and members of our multidisciplinary team (MDT). An MDT is a mental health team made up of diverse professionals, who combine their skills and knowledge to support your individual needs.
If you are being admitted for inpatient care in Willow Grove, we meet both you and your parents, at first together and then separately, so we can understand how best to help you.
You will then develop a care plan with your MDT in your first week in Willow Grove. Your care plan is unique to you, and it outlines a set of goals for your mental healthcare.
Our teacher will also meet you to discuss your needs and to develop an individual education plan with you, as continued access to education during your care is important.
You will:
– have your own bedroom and ensuite
– be able to use a wide range of recreational facilities
– meet other young people.
How long you spend in Willow Grove depends on the level of support you need. Throughout your time here, our team works closely with you and your guardians. You will decide together when you are ready for discharge and receive support ahead of this, so that you can go forward on your recovery journey.
