HUTCHINSON ISLAND — A private recovery center is extending its influence in southeastern Florida to address a growing need for mental health and substance use treatment, opening a new outpatient facility on Hutchinson Island.

Beachside Rehab recently held a grand opening celebration for its second location, drawing more than 50 business and health care professionals. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce, facility tours and a catered lunch.

According to the most recent data from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), approximately 3,563,000 adults in Florida experience a mental health condition each year. This represents about 20% of the adult population, aligning closely with national averages where 1 in 5 adults faces mental illness annually.

This significant treatment gap highlights a major barrier in access to behavioral health care, placing Florida in the bottom 10 states for mental health care. Beachside Rehab, a family-owned operation, aims to chip away at that gap by offering outpatient programs that complement its inpatient services at a flagship site in West Palm Beach.

The new Hutchinson Island center provides partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options, focusing on evidence-based care in a private, upscale setting.

“As part of a trusted provider that has been a leader in mental health, trauma and addiction treatment for over a decade, we bring our same underlying commitment and 5-star excellence that defines our nationally renowned flagship operation to the Hutchinson Island region,” said David Sincavage, the center’s chief operating officer.

Sincavage shares the full range of treatment services and programs led by an experienced and caring team of master-level clinicians, which includes:

Intensive, individualized therapy with a 5:1 average client-to-staff ratio.

Group and family support

Medication management

Holistic approaches (sound meditation, art therapy, fitness classes, group recreation, massage therapy and activities immersed in nature)

Community engagement and recovery support programs

Detailed discharge planning, including access to a 1,000+ Alumni Network

The expansion permits more seamless transitions between inpatient and outpatient care, Sincavage said, better serving people in St. Lucie and Indian River counties, where demand for behavioral health services is high.

“We are now positioned to better serve individuals and families throughout their entire recovery journey in terms of clinical and geographical services,” he added.

The accredited dual-diagnosis facility treats substance use, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and co-occurring conditions. It combines clinical practices with holistic programs in a calm South Florida environment, including detox, residential treatment and mental health services.
