Exploring our adult inpatient services | Mental healthcare in hospital

At St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, we treat a wide range of mental health difficulties.

If you are recommended for inpatient treatment, we are committed to providing you with the highest quality care at St Patrick’s University Hospital or St Patrick’s Hospital Lucan.

This video aims to give you an overview of what you can expect from #inpatient treatment.

We take every measure to support you with the care you need and to offer a safe, warm, nurturing environment for your journey towards #recovery.

You will be supported by a #multidisciplinary team (or MDT), which is a group of diverse #mentalhealth professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, pharmacists and occupational therapists, who blend their skills and expertise.

Together with your MDT, you will develop a care plan, which puts you at the centre of your mental health recovery and consists of a series of goals for your mental health #treatment.

You will receive a weekly schedule, alongside optional supports and activities you can take part in.

How long you spend in #hospital depends on the level of care you need. When it is time for discharge, your MDT will talk you through a number of continued supports available to you to help with this transition.
