The Griefstudio is run by Lucy Thould, 48, who is a NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) registered counsellor.
Ms Thould runs sessions in Crosthwaite for people dealing with grief and believes her service is a good interim option for those facing long NHS waiting lists.
Ms Thould said: “The Griefstudio was born really to honour the life of my mum who died really suddenly when I was just 21.
“I lost her and the house that we lived in and I think that kind of devastation is life changing.
“The Griefstudio was born after my clinical experience in one-to-one counselling and group.
“I began to see how incredible group work can be for healing collectively through community.
“Couple that with how many blockers there are for people to be accessing counselling, either financial or geographical, I just wanted to open up a part of business that was a pay-what-you-can grief counselling group.
“It is really focused on community – professionally led, but fostered that healing through shared experience.”
Ms Thould believes her group is good place to go for people who are waiting to be referred to counselling via the NHS.
The business has been going for one year and meetings are held on Mondays at Argylls Hall.
There are two groups with sessions from 10am to 11am and 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

People dealing with any kind of grief are welcome to the sessions, not just those dealing with bereavement.
Ms Thould said: “The sessions are very warm and welcoming.
“The groups are kept small so that they are not overwhelming and they are kept safe and intimate.
“Sometimes we talk, we laugh, we cry.
“Sometimes I lean into my more creative therapeutical skillset.
“We’ve done things like collages for when people don’t have the words to articulate how they are feeling.
“Some people like to sit quietly, some like to be really involved and all of that is okay.
“The main thing is that collective shared space where people are having a similar experience and they are not left alone.
“It is something very powerful when you hear other people going through the same thing as you.”
