Here’s a little good news worth sharing in Western Kentucky. RiverValley Behavioral Health has been named to the 22nd Annual Best Places to Work in Kentucky list. For those of us in the nonprofit world, it’s always encouraging to see organizations doing life-changing work also recognized for taking care of the people behind the mission.

A Statewide Recognition

Each year, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, SHRM Kentucky, and Saint Joseph Health team up to highlight organizations across the state that are creating strong workplace cultures.

Companies from across the Commonwealth are evaluated through a process that assesses workplace policies and includes confidential employee surveys. The final rankings will be announced at the awards dinner on June 18, 2026, at the Central Bank Center in Lexington.

Organizations are grouped into three categories based on size: small companies with 15–149 employees, medium companies with 150–499 employees, and large companies with more than 500 employees.

A Big Moment for Western Kentucky

Several businesses across the state made the list, but one name that stands out for our region is RiverValley Behavioral Health, which landed in the large company category.

If you’re familiar with the work they do, this probably doesn’t come as a surprise. Their team shows up every day to help people facing mental health challenges, addiction, and other serious life struggles. It’s work that isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly important for families across Western Kentucky.

Serving the Region for Decades

RiverValley Behavioral Health has been serving the Green River region since 1967 as the state-designated Community Mental Health Center.

Their services reach people in Daviess County, Hancock County, Henderson County, Ohio County, McLean County, Union County, and Webster County.

The organization offers a full range of behavioral health services, including mental health care, substance use treatment, and specialized support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At the heart of it all is a team focused on meeting people where they are and helping them move forward.

As someone who works in the nonprofit world, I can tell you recognition like this really does mean something. The work can be heavy. We’re often walking alongside people during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and that kind of work takes a special group of people and a supportive workplace behind them.

That’s why seeing RiverValley Behavioral Health recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky is so special. It says a lot about the culture they’ve built and the way they value the people who show up every day to serve our communities.

We’re cheering them on as the final rankings are announced this June at the Central Bank Center. Good luck to the entire RiverValley team at the awards ceremony! Western Kentucky is proud of the work you do, and we’re wishing you the very best.
